Eton College Chapel

Our team of specialist craftsmen had the pleasure of restoring the last phase of the recent restoration works of Eton College Chapel, a building which is over 650 years old. Whilst carrying out these specialised works it became a very unusual project due to the variety of stone that had been used including Bath, Ragstone, numerous limestones and York Stone.

After we had agreed the scope of works with the Architect and the College, we started to carefully remove all the defective and failing stones from the building. These were then detailed and made off site and then fixed by our team of specialist Stone Masons. All the historical cementitious and failing mortar repairs were carefully cut out, repaired using traditional methods and natural materials, such as natural limes and lime putties mixed with specialist washed sands from Rose of Jericho. We also cut out and pointed over 1000LM of stone joints. The photos show the extent of the work and the success of the project.
